The Connell family’s prudent management of capital has enabled
the firm to grow and diversify over many generations.
As a privately held company, The Connell Company is not burdened with the concerns of quarterly or annually reported earnings. Our financial strength is built on a philosophy of conservative fiscal stewardship and reinvestment of profits into our various businesses to foster long term growth. Even as we’ve had limited need for borrowed capital, The Connell Company enjoys long-term relationships with many of the most prestigious banks and financial institutions in the world.

Founded as Connell Rice & Sugar Company in 1926, Connell traded US-grown rice and brokered domestic sugar and confectionary products.
By the 1960’s and 1970’s, we were the largest non-governmental rice trader in the world, selling US rice throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

During the 1970’s, Connell Rice & Sugar started to diversify into other businesses and changed its name to The Connell Company.
In 2011, Connell ceased its rice operations. Today, our focus is its hospitality, real estate and equipment leasing businesses.
